The Correct Time to Arrive at an Airport

The festive season is round the corner and flight tickets have been booked. For first-time fliers, the biggest question might be the correct time to arrive at the airport. Gone are those days, when a person just had the mind to board the flight and it was done simply by driving to the airport, booking a ticket and boarding the flight then and there itself. With the magnanimous boom in population, boarding a flight takes some talent and hard work, more so for first-timers.

Contrary to popular belief, having a certain ticket of an airline at hand, say for an example, an Indigo flight ticket, does not necessarily guarantee a seat inside its aircraft. A person needs to arrive at the airport in time, get through the security check-in procedure and comply with all the instructions for a hassle-free passage into the flight. It is obvious that no one would like to enter the airport having made to sprint in order to board the flight. At the same time, no person would want to arrive at such a time, where he or she has to wait for long hours for the check-in processes to commence.

It is generally recommended, though it might vary from airport to airport, to arrive approximately 2 hours in advance for the flight. After the World Trade Centre massacre, the security checks have been intensified to a large extent. Due to this, the security personnel go through luggage physically, which takes quite a lot of time. Also, a person should avoid taking any such items that may pose a threat in any way. Surprisingly, these include regular household items, like scissors and nail-filers. To ensure a smooth passage, make sure not to carry any such items. Arrive at the airport well within time for a smooth check-in procedure.
