With supply gap still existing between the demand and supply of hotel rooms across India, due to a buoyant economy and increase in domestic and international tourism, there is definitely a business opportunity to fill this gap and provide more of these hotels. In due consideration of this need of present and future, the joint venture of Accord Hospitality and InterGlobe enterprises, InterGlobe Hotels, has decided to open 13 new budget category hotels in India, including the metropolitan cities.
The joint venture partnership operates the budget category hotels business under the brand name of Ibis since 1970s. Ibis operates more than 1600 hotels under three brands: Ibis, Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget. It currently has a network of about 983 budget hotels across different countries of the world and provides more than 1, 20,000 hotels rooms across various cities. With the addition of 13 new hotels by 2015 it aims to add another 2000 hotel rooms with an land-exclusive investment of Rs 600 crores across cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Nasik, Kolkata, Bangalore, Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad and others.
There are currently 2 Ibis budget hotels in Mumbai and Bengaluru and 1 each in Nashik, Delhi, Gurgaon, Pune and Jaipur. Accor hospitality also provides hotels under a number of other brand names such as Sofitel, Pullman, Mgallery, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Suite Novotel, F1 hotels, Thalassa Sea and Spa Hotels, Adagio and Orbis.
